Programming/Scripting Languages

PHP (PHP Hypertext Preprocessor)
PHP is a widely-used general-purpose scripting language that is especially suited for Web development and can be embedded into HTML. PHP generally runs on a web server, taking PHP code as its input and creating Web pages as output. However, it can also be used for command-line scripting and client-side GUI applications. PHP can be deployed on most web servers and on almost every operating system and platform free of charge.

AJAX (Asynchronous JavaScript and XML)
Ajax, is a group of inter-related web development techniques used for creating interactive web applications. A primary characteristic is the increased responsiveness and interactiveness of web pages achieved by exchanging small amounts of data with the server "behind the scenes" so that the entire web page does not have to be reloaded each time the user performs an action. This is intended to increase the web page's interactivity, speed, functionality, and usability.

Adobe Flex 2
Adobe Flex 2 is a collection of technologies released by Adobe Systems for the development and deployment of cross platform, rich Internet applications based on the proprietary Adobe Flash platform.

Adobe Flash
Flash technology is a popular method for adding animation and interactivity to web pages. Several software products, systems, and devices are able to create or display Flash. Flash is commonly used to create animation, advertisements, various web page components, to integrate video into web pages, and more recently, to develop rich Internet applications.

ASP (Active Server Pages)
ASP is a scripting tool for dynamic webpages. It is a technology that can be compared to Cold Fusion, JSP, and PHP. While primarily made for the Microsoft Windows platform, there are implementations of ASP technology on other environments. ASP is the technology that powers the dynamic websites, not the language that the pages are scripted in. There are a number of languages that can be used to script or program a dynamic website. However, most people assume that ASP and VBScript (one of the languages used) are the same.

VB6 (Visual Basic 6)
VB6 is a third-generation event driven programming language and associated development environment from Microsoft for its COM programming model. Visual Basic was derived from BASIC and enables the rapid application development (RAD) of graphical user interface (GUI) applications, access to databases using DAO, RDO, or ADO, and creation of ActiveX controls and objects. Scripting languages such as VBA and VBScript are syntactically similar to Visual Basic, but perform differently.

Microsoft .NET
.NET is the Microsoft Web services strategy to connect information, people, systems, and devices through software. Integrated across the Microsoft platform, .NET technology provides the ability to quickly build, deploy, manage, and use connected, security-enhanced solutions with Web services. .NET-connected solutions enable businesses to integrate their systems more rapidly and in a more agile manner and help them realize the promise of information anytime, anywhere, on any device.

PERL
Perl is a general-purpose programming language originally developed for text manipulation and now used for a wide range of tasks including system administration, web development, network programming, GUI development, and more.

MySQL
MySQL is popular for web applications and acts as the database component of the LAMP, MAMP, and WAMP platforms (Linux/Mac/Windows-Apache-MySQL-PHP/Perl/Python), and for open-source bug tracking tools like Bugzilla. Its popularity for use with web applications is closely tied to the popularity of PHP and Ruby on Rails, which are often combined with MySQL. PHP and MySQL are essential components for running popular content management systems such as Joomla!, WordPress and Drupal. Wikipedia runs on MediaWiki software, which is written in PHP and uses a MySQL database.

Microsoft SQL Server
Microsoft SQL Server is a relational database management system (RDBMS) produced by Microsoft. Its primary query language is Transact-SQL, an implementation of the ANSI/ISO standard Structured Query Language (SQL) used by both Microsoft and Sybase.

IBM DB2
DB2 is a family of relational database management system (RDBMS) products from IBM that serve a number of different operating system platforms. According to IBM, DB2 leads in terms of database market share and performance.

Pervasive PSQL
Pervasive PSQL is Pervasive Software's relational database (RDBMS) product. Designed for embedded database installations where the DBMS is distributed as part of an application software package, PSQL provides both relational and transactional access to data.

Data Flex

Data Flex is a relational, 4GL Object Oriented database programming language. A database programming language and relational database system (RDBMS) such as Data Flex simplifies these concepts by providing features that automatically perform the mundane drudgery of moving data around and validating its correctness.

Amicas PACS
Amicas PACS is a system used in the medical industry for storage, retrieval, distribution and presentation of images. Like most PACS systems, Amicas PACS handles images from various medical imaging instruments, including ultrasound, magnetic resonance, PET, computed tomography, endoscopy, mammograms, etc.
