 FTP-ing to MVIsolutions Servers

Before you can FTP to our servers you must sign our FTP Agreement.   Go to:

http://www.mediavue.net/customerService/clientSupport/ftp_agreement.html

Print out FTP Agreement, fill in information, sign and fax back.

In the following example we walk through FTP setup of the site www.acme.com with a username of smanager1 you must change the information to reflect your actual domain name and username.

Note:  We assume here that you are using a standard client FTP program (e.g. WS-FTP Pro or CuteFTP).  If you are using a different program, you may need to make some slight adjustments.

a) Open your FTP client program

b) Set up a new connection. The host name should be www.acme.com; the username is smanager1; the password is different in each case and can be supplied by your MVIsolutions representative.

c) Use your FTP client program to connect to your site in the directory /users/smanager1.  You will need to go UP two directories until you are in the root ("/") directory.

d) In the root directory, you will see several folders; go into the one that says web.

e) If this is a new site with an under construction or placeholder page viewable via the web, then there will be a default index.html page in this directory.  Delete this file and replace it with your own index.htm or index.html file.  Note:  Your front page MUST be named index.htm or index.html to be read properly by the web server.
